If you are suffering from insomnia, here are a few things you can try to change your lifestyle to help you get better sleep.
1. Stick to a Fixed Wake-Up Time
Wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends. This helps train your body clock and improves sleep over time.
2. Avoid Alcohol, Caffeine & Nicotine
Caffeine and nicotine can keep you awake for longer hours, while alcohol may disturb your sleep later in the night. Try to limit or avoid them, especially in the evening.
3. Limit Daytime Naps
Long or frequent naps can make it harder to fall asleep at night. Try to keep naps short or avoid them if you have trouble sleeping.
4. Exercise Regularly (But Not Before Bedtime)
Regular exercise helps you sleep better, but avoid working out right before bedtime. Finish your workout at least 2 – 3 hours before sleep.
5. Reduce Stress
Stress can make it harder to fall and stay asleep. Try relaxing your mind and body before bedtime with simple techniques like deep breathing, meditation, or gentle stretching. You can also try listening to calming audio to help you unwind and fall asleep.
