Piles, also known as hemorrhoids are a common problem that get worse during the summer. Heat, dehydration and unhealthy eating habits often lead to discomfort, itching or pain. Read on to know the main causes of piles and some simple home remedies for relief from it.
1. Constipation
Lack of fibre in your diet or drinking less water leads to hard stools. This puts pressure on the rectal veins, which leads to piles.
2. Sitting for Long Periods
Long sitting hours, especially on hard surfaces or in hot weather reduces blood circulation and adds pressure on the lower body.
3. Dehydration
In summer, we sweat more. If we don’t drink enough water, it leads to dehydration and dry stools, which is a major trigger for piles.
4. Spicy & Oily Food
Summer cravings for street food, fried items or too much spice can trouble the stomach and worsen piles symptoms.
5. Lack of Physical Activity
Sedentary lifestyle slows down digestion, increases the risk of constipation and leads to piles over time.
Simple Home Remedies to Ease Piles
1. Drink More Water
Aim for 8 to 10 glasses of water a day to keep your body and digestive system hydrated. This helps soften the stool and prevent straining.
2. Add Fibre to your Diet
Include fruits (like papaya, banana), green vegetables, oats and whole grains. Fibre helps in easy and regular bowel movements
3. Use a Sitz Bath
Soak your lower body in warm water for 10 to 15 minutes twice a day. It gives instant relief from itching and pain.
4. Apply Coconut Oil or Aloe Vera Gel
Both have natural soothing and healing properties. Apply gently to the affected area to reduce swelling and irritation.
5. Exercise Daily
Even a 20 minute slow walk post meals can improve digestion and reduce pressure on the veins.
